I’ve never run an obstacle course race, but I’m intrigued by them. Sometimes I’ll read a recap of an OCR and think, “Wow, that sounds like fun!” But then I’ll look at the photos and all I can think is, “Huh. That’s a lot of mud.” I’m not really a fan of getting dirty, but I like the idea of pushing my physical limits. Who knows – maybe someday I’ll take the plunge.
Anyway, when it comes to obstacle course races, the Spartan obstacle race series is in a class of its own. If you’re not familiar with Spartan races, check out this short video:
(You see what I mean about the mud, right?)
Spartan Up! Podcast Series
Last month, Spartan launched a podcast series starring Joe De Sena, founder and CEO of Spartan Race.

Then, with a panel of colleagues, Joe breaks down the lessons to provide the ultimate blueprint for success.
Series guests include:
- Former member of Seal Team Six
- Olympic wrestling coach
- Ultra marathoner (who carries a fridge on his back)
- CEO of Virgin Group
- Visually impaired wrestler
- Emeritus US Army General

Joe is dynamic and engaging, and he has lots of fun with his guests. And you can enjoy it two ways – listen to the audio file, or follow Joe on the accompanying YouTube videos. The Spartan Up! Podcast is available on iTunes and at www.spartanuppodcast.com.
